How the daily puzzle works.
Each date has a fixed layout and deal, so you and a friend opening the same date get the same tiles. Today follows the local date on your device, so near midnight people in other time zones may be on a different day. Use the archive to choose a matching date if you want to compare.
Daily puzzles use the compact layouts, which fit comfortably on a phone, and they are rated Medium. Every daily can be cleared. The puzzles are numbered from No. 1 on 1 January 2026, so you can tell at a glance which one you played.

Choose Browse previous puzzles to open the calendar. The free archive covers every day from 1 January 2026 to today. Future puzzles are not available yet.
The calendar marks the puzzles you have finished and those still in progress. Each date keeps its own saved board, separate from your classic game, so you can start yesterday’s puzzle, try today’s and come back to finish the first.
Streaks and results.
Your streak counts the days on which you finish at least one puzzle, daily or classic. Finishing several archive puzzles on the same day counts as one day. Results are kept in this browser; they are not a public leaderboard.
After clearing the board, Copy result copies the puzzle number, layout, level, your time and the hints and shuffles you used. It never includes the tiles, and nothing is posted for you.

Progress saves automatically in browser storage on this website. Return in the same browser to pick up where you stopped. There is no cloud sync, so another device starts fresh.
Clearing site data removes saved games and statistics. If you open Mahjong Dawn in another tab, the older tab pauses and offers to reload the latest save, so two tabs never overwrite each other.
